2025 Gracies Awards

 

In late March 2025, the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation unveiled the winners of its Gracie Awards. Honorees in National TV, National Radio, Non-Commercial Syndicated Radio and National Digital Media are recognized for outstanding individual achievement and programming by, for and about women at the national level.

Chicago’s WGN Radio and KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, OK, each won an award.

WGN Radio: Interview Feature – Sports

For the second consecutive year, WGN Radio in Chicago, IL, was named a recipient of a Gracie Award.

The 2025 award recognized producer Iridian Fierro in the Interview Feature – Sports local radio category. The award-winning audio published June 18, 2024, as a podcast to wgnradio.com, is Ms. Fierro’s in-studio conversation with professional wrestlers Skye Blue and Kyle Fletcher discussing their careers and sport before appearing at a Chicago wrestling event.

In 2024, host Lisa Dent received The Gracies for Best Local Radio Non-Morning Drive Talk/Personality Host in a major market.

KFOR-TV: Hard News Feature

KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, OK, won a 2025 Gracie Award in the Hard News Feature category.

In “Criminal Injustice: The April Wilkens Story,” Ali Meyer follows the case of April Wilkens, a domestic abuse survivor who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her abuser.

Ms. Wilkens’ case was integral in sparking a criminal justice reform movement to lessen the severity of sentencing for domestic abuse survivors and it ultimately led to the passage of the Oklahoma Survivors Act (SB 1835) in 2024.
