Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation Donates $5,000 To ALS in the Heartland in Sioux City, IA
Irving, TX and Sioux City, IA (April 1, 2025) – The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation and KCAU-TV (KCAU 9), the Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST) television station serving Sioux City, IA, and the surrounding area, today announced that the Foundation will donate $5,000 to ALS in the Heartland.
ALS in the Heartland is the only not-for-profit health organization in Iowa dedicated solely to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis. It is also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The organization leads the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy for those facing the disease.
KCAU 9 will host the 11th annual ALS benefit concert, Rockin’ for a Cure, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City on Sunday, May 4th, starting at 1 p.m. and will feature Steven Bankey and the Flatland Band, Missouri Blend, Rock Bottom, and The Establishment. The event is held in memory of Pete Goede, the lead singer of The Establishment who passed away from ALS in 2015. All proceeds raised will go towards ALS in the Heartland.
“KCAU is proud to support the 11th annual Pete Goede ALS Benefit concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on May 4th,” said John Curry, the Vice President and General Manager of KCAU-TV in Sioux City, IA. “The event brings together hundreds of people each year who share a vision of a world free of ALS. Many of our supporters have friends or family members suffering from ALS right now.”
Mr. Curry continued: “Our parent company Nexstar has been very supportive of our efforts and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation has once again come through with a $5,000 donation to ALS in the Heartland. Thank you Nexstar for giving back to the people of Siouxland!”
“ALS in the Heartland extends our deepest gratitude to KCAU-TV and Nexstar for their unwavering commitment to our mission,” said Tammy Stalzer, Executive Director of ALS in the Heartland. “Their generous support amplifies our efforts to ensure that no one faces ALS alone, providing vital resources and awareness for those battling this disease. Together, we are making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families affected by ALS right here in the Siouxland.
The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation’s mission is to contribute to and work with public charities and non-profit organizations to improve the communities in which Nexstar Media and its subsidiaries do business.
