Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation and WNCT 9 On Your Side Donate $5,000 To Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina

IRVING, TX (Nov. 20, 2020) – The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation announced today it will donate $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina, on behalf of WNCT 9 On Your Side, the Nexstar Inc. television station serving The East.  The donation is part of WNCT’s month-long series “Caring for Carolina Non-Profit Spotlight,” featured on “The East’s Daily Download”, the station’s locally produced lifestyle program.  The donation will be used to help the Ronald McDonald House continue providing services to sick and injured children along with their families across Eastern North Carolina.

Since 1987, the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina has served close to 30,000 sick or injured children from area medical facilities, providing families with a safe place to stay while their children receive treatment.  In 2020, the facility served more than 500 families and provided nearly 8,500 over-night stays.

WNCT 9 On Your Side has a long tradition of working with and supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina, and over the last four years has hosted a day-long telethon, one of the organization’s most important fundraisers.  Like many fundraisers, this year the telethon went virtual and due to the pandemic, fell just short of the goal.

“Thank you so much to WNCT 9 On Your Side and Nexstar for their donation of $5,000 which they provided for the families of the Ronald McDonald Houses of Eastern North Carolina,” said Meghan Woolard, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina. “This donation helps support our overall mission of providing a home away from home for families while their children are receiving treatment at the Maynard Children’s Hospital or other local medical facilities. We couldn’t provide a place for families to be near their children without this kind of generosity.  Our guests are truly grateful for these donations and the support, and we thank you for helping make our House a home. We appreciate your generosity.”

The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation’s mission is to contribute to and work with public charities and non-profit organizations to improve the communities in which Nexstar Media Group Inc. and its subsidiaries do business.  The foundation was originally established in 1958 and it makes donations of approximately $350,000 annually.
