Nexstar To Televise New Year’s Eve Special: “Coast-To-Coast Countdown To 2025”
Exclusive National Telecast Will Feature Live Music, Special Guests, Fireworks and a Spectacular Drone Show
Broadcast Will Be Syndicated Across Nearly 70 Nexstar-owned and Partner Stations, Reaching More Than 50 million U.S. TV Households, and Live-Streamed Online

LAS VEGAS, NV (December 17, 2024) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc., today announced that KLAS-TV (CBS), the company’s local television station serving the Las Vegas area (DMA #40), will host “Coast-to-Coast Countdown to 2025,” an exclusive live New Year’s Eve special on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. PT. The broadcast will air live across 69 Nexstar-owned and partner television stations, up from 14 stations last year, and will reach more than 50 million U.S. television households, including viewers in New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Washington DC, San Francisco, CA, Denver, CO, and Tampa, FL. “Coast to Coast Countdown to 2025” will also be an hour longer than last year’s broadcast.
Viewers can stream the entire show and exclusive bonus content live on the digital and streaming platforms of participating local television stations and post comments and video to social media using the hashtag “#coast2coastnye.”
The telecast will feature musical performances, special entertainment, and a countdown to midnight across all four time zones in the United States. Viewers will be treated to the midnight ball-drop in New York City, a spectacular fireworks and drone show from Reunion Tower in Dallas, fireworks from Denver’s downtown area, and an epic 10-minute firework show launched from the rooftops of nine hotels on the Las Vegas strip.
Viewers and VIP party guests will ring-in the New Year with live musical performances by legendary singers and bands, including:
- The Jacksons—performing a public tribute to their departed brothers Michael and Tito Jackson for the first time.
- Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Foreigner—the ultimate juke box heroes with nine Top-10 hits and 16 Top-30 hits.
- Sheila E.—The “Queen of Percussion” and Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award-Winner.
- Rick Springfield—Grammy winner, actor, with millions of records sold worldwide.
- Morris Day—The legendary funkmaster, Morris Day, best known as the break out star of rock movie sensation ”Purple Rain,” with a new album on the way.
- Lisa Lisa—Considered one of the greatest hip-hop/freestyle artists of all time.
- George Thorogood—Master lead guitarist, “Bad to the Bone” for decades with a string of hits in the 80s and 90s.
- Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats—Considered one of the greatest bass players of all time. The Stray Cats sold over 10 million albums, garnered 23 gold and platinum certified records, and were music video pioneers of MTV. The Stray Cats’ worldwide mega hits “Stray Cat Strut,” “Sexy and Seventeen,” and “Rock this Town” have become a part of the fabric of rock and roll.
At midnight Pacific Time, ten minutes of fireworks will be launched from the rooftops of nine resorts along the Las Vegas strip. Partygoers, family, and friends will have the opportunity to share their own personal New Year’s Eve merry-making experiences and holiday wishes using the hashtag #coast2coastnye on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
