Our Foundation
Giving back to the communities served by Nexstar across the country is core to the Nexstar’s mission.
The Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s mission is to contribute to and work with public charities and non-profit organizations to improve the communities in which Nexstar Media and its subsidiaries do business. The forerunner of the foundation was originally established in 1958; it makes donations of approximately $350,000 annually.
From fighting food insecurity, supporting our vets, and promoting diversity in media and entertainment, our Foundation is proud to help support a variety of organizations throughout the U.S. Some of the contributions given in 2023 went to:
-
-
- United Way of Smith County brings together local companies, individuals, government and nonprofit agencies to tackle big issues. The organization raises funds that support more than 30 essential programs that target four essential impact areas: Education, Health & Wellness, Financial Stability, and Crisis Intervention. By focusing on these impact areas, the organization hopes to ensure that every citizen in Smith County has access to education, adequate health care services, help in the midst of a crisis, and a clear path toward financial stability.
- The ALS Association is the only not-for-profit health organization in Iowa dedicated solely to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As the preeminent ALS organization, The Association leads the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy – giving help and hope to those facing the disease.
- Feeding the Valley Food Bank collaborates with more than 350 partner agencies in 17 counties in Georgia and one in Alabama. Headquartered in Columbus, GA, the food bank serves as a centralized source for receiving and distributing donated food, fresh produce, and grocery products from national and local retail donors, as well as seasonal produce from local providers.
- The Columbus State University Foundation provides program funding and scholarship assistance in support of the activities of the Columbus State University (CSU). The primary sources of revenue and support for the CSUF are contributions from businesses, individuals and foundations and investment income.
