KARD, a Fox affiliate, was acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting as part of the Quorum Broadcasting acquisition in late 2003. KARD is operated in cooperation with Mission Broadcasting’s KTVE, an NBC affiliate also located in West Monroe that was purchased from Piedmont Television in December 2007. KARD has consistently delivered improved revenue and operating profits. KARD’s syndicated programming includes Family Feud, The People’s Court, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, and The Real. KARD also broadcasts news weekdays at 5:30pm & 9:00pm, as well as a lifestyle show called “Louisiana Living” weekdays at 4:30pm. KARD along with KTVE have the only Baron Doppler radar in the Monroe/El Dorado DMA.

Cable/ADS penetration in the market is estimated to be 80% (26% wired, 54% ADS). Northeast Louisiana is strategically positioned as both the center point and crossroads of the Mid-South, one of the fastest growing regions of the United States. Currently, the region serves as home to such diversified industries and business as DRAX BioMass, Lumen, Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation, ConAgra Processing, Graphic Packaging, Vantage Insurance, PPM Environmental Consultants and a multitude of emerging service, healthcare, manufacturing, wholesale and retail businesses. Ouachita Parish, home of the metropolitan base of the region, has a population of approximately 150,000. Three major universities – the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana Tech and Grambling University – as well as a new osteopathic medical school, The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), are located within a 30 miles radius, offering degree programs in such fields as Pharmacy, Engineering, Architecture, Nursing, Construction and a wide variety of nationally accredited undergraduate, graduate and Doctoral programs. The nickname “Sportsman’s Paradise” certainly applies to Northeast Louisiana. The region includes D’Arbonne Lake, Caney Lake, the Poverty Point Reservoir, Ouachita River, Mississippi River, and is the home of the Robertson Family from Duck Dynasty. The largest employers in this market are Ouachita Parish School Board, St. Francis Hospital, and Graphic Packing.
