WKRG is the CBS affiliate for the Mobile/Pensacola DMA. The station celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2015. WKRG has strived to be the area’s news leader over the years, and in 2016 was awarded the Alabama Broadcasters Association Station of the Year award and the Alabama AP’s Best News Operation in the state of Alabama. WKRG has been the leader in adopting new technology and resources, having led the nation initially in Facebook fans and being one of the first stations to utilize Facebook Live to provide a different approach in news coverage. The station continues to be the market leader on Facebook with the most followers and engagement of any broadcast station. WKRG’s attention to providing news content online and via mobile has resulted in WKRG.com being awarded the state’s best news website two years in a row by the Alabama Broadcasters Association. WKRG is the community station, helping many charitable organizations throughout the year culminating with our largest philanthropic campaign, The Magical Christmas Toy Drive in November and December. Partnering with the Salvation Army of Mobile and Pensacola, the station collected over 30,000 toys for families across the Gulf Coast in 2017. WKRG is the area’s leader in breaking news and breaking weather, helping deliver on our promise that we are “Coverage You Can Count On!”
