WREG News Channel 3 is a CBS affiliate, first signing on the air on January 1, 1956, under its original call letters, WREC-TV. Serving the community of Memphis and the surrounding area has always been the station’s top priority and a point of pride for its employees. WREG produces and airs more than 40 hours of local news programming each week, and has been Memphis’ Nielsen ratings leader since 2011. But WREG’s commitment to serving the Mid-South goes well-beyond its own programming. The station partners with local and national organizations including The Salvation Army and the Tennessee Education Lottery, for philanthropic and educational initiatives including: Tim’s Coats for Kids, Knowledge Bowl, Team Read, and many more. The station’s annual Go Jim Go! project has raised more than $3 million for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. It was recognized as the winner of the 2019 National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation Service to America Award. In 2018, WREG President and General Manager Ron Walter was honored with the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Distinguished Service Award, its highest honor. WREG’s news team has won multiple regional Emmy Awards for excellence in journalism.
WREG’s syndicated programming includes Jeopardy!, Inside Edition, and Entertainment Tonight.
